A solar park of 1.2 MWp in combination with battery energy storage is going to be realized in 2018 in Weert. The project is the first in the Netherlands to combine a cooperative district battery with large-scale local generation of renewable energy. The battery is used for self-consumption, energy trading and grid balancing in order to make local energy storage cost-effective.
The project called COOP-STORE is a cooperation of SEAC with WeertEnergie, Scholt Energy Services and Soltronergy. In this project, SEAC analyses the business cases of residential storage deployment in the low voltage grid, district storage deployment in the medium voltage grid and large-scale storage deployment in the high voltage grid. As a reference, all cases will be compared to the option of grid reinforcements for minimizing curtailment.
